Activation Survey Questions
Activation survey questions help you learn whether a new customer reached a meaningful first result and where the path became unclear.

Questions about first value
- What were you hoping to accomplish first?
- Were you able to reach that result?
- Which step was easiest to understand?
- Where did you get stuck?
- What would have made the first session more useful?
Questions about setup
- How easy was it to get started?
- Was anything missing before you could complete the task?
- Did you know what to do next at each step?
- What information would have helped you move faster?
How to adapt
Replace “first result” with the behavior that matters for your product. Ask soon after the task, while the setup details are still clear, and avoid calling a customer activated before the outcome actually happened.
The customer onboarding questions help when the experience includes a longer first-use journey.
Next step
Choose the first result that matters, ask four focused questions, and compare answers from people who completed and did not complete that step.
